a basic startup tutorial?

It would be nice to get a base tutorial on how to get things situated like spawns and goals.

Yes. Although it's not as good as I would like, and it is a bit piecemeal. Building a complete Talon map will require a number of different tools, but you will be able to do it without buying anything beyond the game itself. Objects like barrels, rocks, trees, or ships may be built in any 3D modeller. Blender will do, I used Wings3D. Buildings and interior spaces are the biggest hassle, since they must be built with a CSG-brush-based editor. Arguably the best one available is GarageGames' Torque Constructor, which is what I used. There is a built-in Terrain Editor in Talon, and everything gets put together in the built-in Mission Editor, which is not the most refined editor in the world, but it is functional.

I definitely have to make up some tutorials for the whole process, but I'm pretty swamped at the moment.
