Talon version 1.0 is out, and the store is online! It is with great pleasure that I am officially announcing the commencement of sales! It has taken a bit longer than I projected and I apologize, but the wait is now over!
And please keep the feedback coming, because while I am very pleased with the state of the game at this point, I am not done improving it! This is an Early Access release, because I want to get it out so everyone can play, but I will still be making changes and adding features. That said, I feel the game is off to a very strong start. I think it is great fun, and I hope you'll agree.

Sweet Jesus. I know what I'll be doing when I get home from work today.
Roncli: "Step back."
Me: "Uh... ok."
Roncli destroys his keyboard.

How many have been sold so far Scott? If you don't mind saying so.

8 so far. Not a great many, but I wasn't expecting much yet. I have done no real marketing, nor advertized the release outside of this and a couple Descent forums. This is because there is still work to be done on the talongame websites. I rushed this release because I wanted to have something for the folks who missed the Beta and were kept waiting. Marketing efforts will begin soon after a bit of website work is completed.

Hey Scott,
What is the difference between the demo and the early access version?
Offline
May be 30 or more points... ;-)

The Demo contains one map and is limited to offline play against bots. It's also based on an early beta version and as such lacks certain features (and weapons).
The Early Access release is the full game in its current state. It's Early Access because it contains only five small maps, and because there are still a few additional features I want to add and issues I want to address. For example there is a bug where certain custom textures in user made maps don't download properly, there is still an issue with dedi servers not shutting down correctly on some systems, and a few things like that. The game is in a solid, playable state, however, and I did not wish to withhold it from people any longer.

Ok thanks. I'm going to buy it today when I get home. Don't want to pay from work and be forced to download it here.

When you purchase, you should receive an email containing a download link that you should be able to use from your computer at home. (You will also get a link on the order confirmation page, just ignore that one and wait for the email.)

Bought and will download tonight. Hopefully will have time to play today since i get off work early and I don't go out to party.

Might be a dumb Q, but any plans to greenlight this on steam?
Btw, my 'day job' is online marketing for the past 5 years, can volunteer for web/marketing a few hours a week, just put me to work!

Yes, a Greenlight campaign is planned.
And thank you, Rhino, I appreciate your offer. There are a couple of issues I want to sort out before I start any serious marketing efforts, but it's not too early to work on my marketing strategy/plan. I have ideas, but I'm curious what suggestions you have. How would you go about marketing a game like this?

I would recommend advertising on IGN.com and would also recommend a facebook and twitter account for both talongame.com and for refractory studios. Actually the facebook would be a massive free exposure. I would do the facebook today. When I first learned of D3 it was on ign.com if im not mistaken, or maybe is was on gamespot.com
