Re: Beta testers hardware log

In all seriousness, it's hard to determine actual system requirements. You guys have been very hopeful in testing and gathering all this data for me, but it's still not clear to me where I should "draw the line", so to speak. It seems like the P4-generation systems are struggling, but can work, depending on the video card, OS, how much you are willing to sacrifice the pretty, and how much action you expect it to be able to handle. Certainly, based on what I'm seeing, I don't recommend a P4-level system, but is it "below minimum"?

What do consumers expect in performance if their system just meets the Minimum Requirements?

Setting the Minimum too high might put off customers who could possibly run it, depending on certain specifics. Setting it too low might result in complaints from buyers who expected it to run better on their old system.

Re: Beta testers hardware log

The minimum req should be this:

Min: - Playable at lower settings with decent FPS.
Rec: - Playable with most settings at high and decent FPS.
Max: - Playable at highest setting and good FPS.

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Runs perfectly on my laptop at default settings
Specs:
- HP Envy m6 1206tx
- 2.6ghz quad core (i5)
- Dual graphics (runs fine on both the IntelHD4000 and the Radeon 7670M)
- 8gb ram
- Running Windows 8.1 64 bit

I'll add that it does not run under windows emulator.

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Handi was playing it on a pretty cheesy old Laptop MAC running windows. I'll have to ask him the specs.

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Must say, it's cool that Macs can now run Windows and thus Windows games. I was feeling bad that I didn't have a Mac and thus I was not going to have native Mac support for Talon, at least not for the initial release, but it's much less of a problem now that they can dual-boot.

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Installed the demo on my HTPC:

Z87 based mainboard, i5-4570S (stock speed), 2x2GB DDR3-1600
Integrated HD4600 GF/X (latest driver)
integrated audio via S/PDIF
128GB SSD

Windows 8 Pro 64bit

MS SideWinder 3D Pro via USB converter (joystick)
Logitch K400r (keyboard)

Vizio TV via HDMI, 1900x1080

Full screen, effects at default.

Zero problems, plays very smooth smile

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Well, if it ran on my side with playable framerates (around 30/40fps) while testing on a cheap Atom 1.6GHz, 1GB ram Netbook and a very old Intel integrated graphics card from 2008, I think it can definitely run on a decent Pentium 4 computer, although using some lower detail settings of course.

It seems Talon system requirements are somewhat low, so everybody in general would be able to play. smile

Re: Beta testers hardware log

Yeah, I think I forgot to respond to that, but I was quite surprised that it was at all playable on a netbook! Those aren't exactly gaming computers. tongue
