Raser cannon OP?

Raser fires quickly, travels faster than any other 'energy' weapon, and kills in 2-4 hits?  Seems way OP compared to the cannon in the demo.  Thoughts?

As I understand it,
the AutoCannon makes damage to the ship hull even when shields are all up.
One hit with QuadRaser just damages the shield.

So theoretically,
in an one-on-one battle with same ship type and ONLY an AutoCannon for one player and ONLY an QuadRaser for the other, the one with the AC has an advantage, - if he manages to get away long enough after each QR-hit from his opponent to recharge his shield.
He could play 'forever', where as the other player will go down eventually, when he get's hit.

But I agree that the QR seems to be the more better choice over the AC, especially in a full version multi-player match.

The Raser gets 90 ammo and is used more than the Cannon. That means you don't have to re-load on a landing pad so often, because you can collect more ammo from destroyed opponents.
In the full version there are 5 different ships with different shield capacity and armor strengths, that makes it even more complicate.

There are many variables in this to consider (ship types, map layout, game mode, second weapon, missile types etc.) -  so I'm not really sure for myself how to judge this in the end.

The consent seems to be to give all ship-types same ammo level for all weapons. At least that is my impression after making suggestions for diversity in this regard.

At one point in development I had the game gather and display stats at level end for number of shots fired and number that hit for each weapon, as well as kill totals for each weapon and ship you used. I want to put that back in. Apart from the fact that stats are fun tongue it should provide useful information to evaluate the balance of things.

I think detailed stats for each ship and weapon along with time used would be really useful. Along with total damage dealt by each weapon. Also if it can be done, avg lifespan in each ship and flight time logged would be pretty sweet.

IIRC the bots choose their weapon by the kills they get with it and the number of times they are killed by it. So it is a rough indicator of the efficiency of the weapons.
