Hi! I first learned about this from Blarget and then started seeing more about it in other Descent forums.
Descent 3 was my first online game (barring Planet Hot Wheels) but it wasn't long before I went on to the first two games in the series, which I occasionally make maps for.
I also like to tinker with the HAM file for Descent 2 to make custom weapons and ship characteristics now and then, but the current tools required to do this make it a headache.

I'll let Krom (the DBB.net admin) know you're having issues, Scottris.
Thank you, Foil.
And welcome, Hydra and Enzo. Good to have you here!

Hi all, I finally got some time to pass by here and say hello!
Well, I'm Pumo, mostly known for making the 'Pumo Mines : Kartsal Motivation' project, a mission designed for D2X-XL, one of the ports of Descent 2 for newer machines.
I'm mainly a level designer and a loner, that means, a Single-player fan at best, so you won't see me playing online very often, but I do enjoy some online playing (specially Coop and Anarchy) from time to time.
I'm also a member of the 'Descent Task Force' community and an active 'elite' user from the D2X-XL forums, as well as a more or less common user on the DescentBB, PlanetDescent and the DXX-Rebirth forums.
I love everything Descent related and I try to be pretty active at the community in general.
As well as Blarget, I will show some of my relatively recent work in the Pumo Mines project:

And of course, I'm excited to see such a great project like Talon in development!
I'm eagerly awaiting to check out the Beta version!

Welcome Pumo! That's quite a labyrinth you've built; looks like fun!
but I do enjoy some online playing (specially Coop and Anarchy) from time to time.
While Talon does not have a Descent-style single player, it does have bots for offline play, and a Co-Op mode that puts all the human players on one team and fills the other with bots. It's not quite the same, but it's something.
@Foil: Thanks for the help there!

RV never really took off
Would you mind elaborating on this a little? I started researching this matter tonight and was just exploring Retrovirus when you posted this - the visuals were really impressive and people seemed really excited about it, so what went wrong? We'd like to learn from others' experiences.
Meow.

Not sure why. Could be that a lot D3 players got turned off by the slightly exotic flight mechanics/weaponry so it never got the hard-core passionate following necessary for getting it "of the ground" (Most non-Descent players see it just as another exotic FPS.) I like to play it but I have the hardest time getting people I know (ie. other D3 pilots...) to buy it or even join if they own it.
Oh, and another problem RV has is the Game engine -- it's based on XNA, not working well on common systems

Well, Talon does deviate from Descent in some ways, mostly by borrowing cues from flight sim and space combat games. I do think, and I hope I'm right, that Talon will be more familiar, more comfortable, to Descent fans both in weapons and flight mechanics. Feedback so far suggests that it is.
As for the engine, Talon is based on Torque, which is derived from the Tribes games. It's an old, time tested engine, and it should be compatible and stable on most systems.
So I think we're good on those fronts.

Welcome, w00p!
If you're here because you're interested in the beta, I need to know who you are. If you've come on an invite from another forum, please make a corresponding post on that forum. If you've come on invite from a friend who has the Beta, please have them contact me. I am accepting additional beta testers, but this is not an open beta, it is invite-only. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

By the way, if anyone knows Captain Alias, tell them that they might have entered their email address incorrectly. Their verification email bounced back as undeliverable: unknown user. They might need to contact me directly to fix that.
